Golf star visits Lakeland plant

Global golfing star Leona Maguire recently visited Lakeland Dairies Killeshandra to see how the world-class dairy products are made in her “local factory”.

In early 2024, Lakeland Dairies signed a long-term partnership with the Ballyconnell native, and their logo will continue to adorn Leona’s official golf bag on all her tour events throughout the coming season.

Leona visited the main foodservice production site for Lakeland Dairies where over 200 local people are employed and a range of high-quality UHT milk, butter, casein and ice-cream products are produced.

Led by Killeshandra site manager Petra Deane with Deirdre Kellegher, Foodservice / Consumer Foods Operations Manager and Josephine Maguire Butter Manager, Leona saw first-hand how products such as the UHT Milk Stick and mini pack butters are made.

Speaking after the visit, Petra Deane said Lakeland were “thrilled” to welcome Leona to Killeshandra.

“Leona represents the locality so well on the international stage and is a tremendous ambassador for Cavan and the surrounding areas. We are incredibly proud to support her on her exciting journey. Seeing the Lakeland Dairies logo on her golf bag in Asia to America is very rewarding for our farm families as well as our people,” Petra said.
