Garda appeal for dash cam footage following serious accident at Lisgrey on N3
N3 at Lisgrey will remain closed until tomorrow afternoon; woman in her 70s airlifted to hospital
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision in Virginia, Co Cavan, earlier today, Wednesday, January 8.
At approximately 1:10pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a two-car collision in Lisgrey.
A passenger of one car, a woman aged in her 70s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital, Dublin, where she is in a critical condition. The occupant of the second car was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road will re-main closed overnight.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
Additionally, road users travelling on the N3 between The Lavey Inn and Virginia between 12:45pm and 1:15pm and who may have camera footage (including dashcam recordings) are asked to make them available to gardaí.

A spokesperson for Cavan County Council advised of diversions earlier today.
They said: "Following a serious road traffic collision at Lisgrey this afternoon, the N3 will be closed overnight. Diversions will be as follows:
•Southbound: Divert at Lavey to Bailieborough via R165 then to Virginia via R178
•Northbound: Divert at Virginia to Ballyjamesduff via R194 then to N3 at New Inn via R196
"Road users are urged to follow the signage and adhere to these diversion routes, and not attempt to take any perceived short cuts which may be particularly treacherous given prevailing weather conditions."
