Recycle and compost this festive season – Wilton

20% to 25% increase in recycling material every Christmas.

Wilton Recycling is encouraging people in Co Cavan to recycle and fill their compost caddy with as much material as possible this Christmas.

The company says that extra waste is generated during the festive period and, because everyone is so busy, “sorting waste is not always at the top of the to-do list.”

“Each Christmas, we see a 20% to 25% increase in recycling material and a similar rate for compost, which shows efforts are being made, but this year we want to see an even greater increase,” a spokesperson said.

“Our motto for this Christmas is, before going to the waste bin, ‘think’ can these items be recycled or composted? Not only is this better for the environment, it is cheaper for households than putting everything in their waste bin.
