After a short career in the RAF, Keith emigrated to South Africa with his wife where they lived for a short time following the birth of their daughter. On his return to England Keith finally found his niche in academic research, building an impressive body of work about the Boer War and the colonial role of Britain in SA.

Keith will be remembered as an intelligent, witty, kind soul who was happiest recalling stories for those who wanted to be perfect.
