A daily dose of kindness

Sandra Hales was sitting enjoying a hearty beef stew with soda bread when the Celt called into Daily Brew.

So much is her love of the friendliness and warmth in the cafe that she wished to share her views.

“This good lady, she's just so kind, they all are,” she said, expressing her gratitude for cafe owner Lorraine Kennedy and her staff.

“This is like coming in for a hug, this cafe.

“It’s the atmosphere in here, it’s just so kind and human,” she praised.

“It’s the cafe of kindness,” Sandra added.

Lorraine sat listening as her customers dished out praise for her business, which she began two years ago. She expressed her gratitude for her customers, who have made Daily Brew the successful eatery it is today.

“It’s what I wanted it to be,” Lorraine said, delighted that her cafe is proving a success in Ballyconnell.

Between regulars coming in for their hot morning coffee and takeout and others coming along for a catch up with friends, the cafe has become a hub for the local community.

“Some people come in just to meet a friend or after school or after going on the school run, they come in to sit down and have a chat.

“I have music on and I bring the papers over every day,” assured Lorraine.

“It is a hub for meeting people and all ages come and that’s what we wanted when we did open it, it was more so just for a cup of tea and then we branched out.”

Between stews, Irish soda bread, soup and brown bread, hot sandwiches, wraps, paninis, croissants and bagels, which are all made to order with the freshest salad vegetables, sauces and meats, customers are spoiled for choice at Daily Brew.

Starting this week, Daily Brew will be serving their Christmas specials; your bread of choice with succulent chicken or turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. The team goes above and beyond to cater for everybody with milkshakes, iced cappuccinos and chai latte’s “which are going down a hit".

They also serve wine and have hosted some wine and cheese nights during the summer evenings.

“We brought in a lot of gluten-free options because I am a vegan myself,” said Lorraine, describing how she understands how important it is to have options for everybody when they come through the doors.

“We have gluten free bagels and we have breads as well, some people come in and don’t think they’ll get that choice and they’ll usually come back with a friend.”

On the more sweet side, they have Christmas cake, mince pies, carrot cake, chocolate fudge cake, biscuits and bars for “somebody on the run” and lots more freshly baked goods.

The cafe also does gift vouchers, which would make a perfect Christmas gift for Daily Brew lovers.

Lorraine also encouraged customers to watch out for their annual Christmas hamper ,which they are automatically added into when they make a purchase in the cafe.
