Breffni Arms at the heart of the community this Christmas

The community in Arva is buzzing this festive season after the local GAA team claimed the Ulster and All-Ireland Junior titles in 2023 and the Intermediate side gears up for the Ulster Club Championship final next weekend.

And, in tandem with the mood, owner of the Breffni Arms Hotel, Eamonn Gray, is currently preparing for some wonderful Christmas party nights over the festive season.

On Saturday, December 14, the season will kick off with Patrick Feeney on stage. The event will begin with a mulled wine reception followed by a sumptuous four-course, sit-down gala dinner, all of which guarantees a great night’s entertainment.

Then on Saturday, December 29, the popular hotel will play host to Country singing sensation Johnny Brady, and on New Year’s Eve, December 31, Tempo will be in Ned’s Bar from 9:30pm.

Speaking to the Celt, Eamonn said trade has been good this year, particularly on the food side of the business. The Breffni Arms Hotel serves food all day and offers a range of delicious and popular dishes on its menu.

Looking ahead to 2025, Eamonn added: “We want to hold on to what we have here and improve on it. We get a large percentage of business from continental and overseas visitors.”

The hotel is also located in the heart of Lakelands territory and, as such, attracts large numbers of anglers from the UK to the establishment.

But the big focus now is on the Intermediate Club Final and Eamonn highlighted how the team has brought the people of Arva on a “magical journey” this year.

“I want to thank the management and officers for the magical journey they are taking us on,” he said.

“I also want to wish our customers and everyone in the community a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers over the Christmas season.”
