Fishing for the perfect gift for your pet?

Graeme’s Tackle & Pets are delighted to welcome customers to their brand new, spacious premises this Christmas shopping season.

When the Celt called to visit, owner Graeme Gannon along with his wife Rachel were preparing their Christmas hampers, which are custom made to order.

Customers give their budget and the type of hamper they would like and wait for the perfect Christmas gift for the fishing enthusiast or beloved pet in their life.

Wrapped in clear film and decorated with a large Christmas ribbon, the hampers include everything from dog toys to grooming brushes, natural and nutritious treats, leashes, harnesses and branded care products such as aminology and Ancol.

The team in store also take care of your pet’s grooming needs too with 15 years' experience. Graeme began dog grooming in Dublin before making the move to Bailieborough seven years ago. One year later, he opened his store, and moved into his dream premises just under a month ago.

They provide a dog grooming service as well as pet supplies for dogs, cats, birds, fish reptiles and and other small animals.

For fishing, baskets full of bait, reels, and line sat waiting on the counter, while the shop boasted fishing nets, feeders, floats and clothing for fishermen.

Their range of tackle products also comes with advice “all under one roof.”

They provide a range of fishing tackle from pike, to predator, course fishing, match fishing and “a small bit” of sea fishing.

“Cavan has more lake than sea fishing,” Graeme joked.

A fishing enthusiast himself, Graeme is known for providing advice to those looking for their first rod and sharing tips on how to reel in the perfect catch.

“I started off fishing when I was younger, probably 12 years of age and it just went from there,” he said, detailing how he found a passion for the sport.

“I haven’t got as much time on my hands so I don’t do as much match [fishing] so it’s good to see the young lads coming in and getting them set up and getting them out fishing.

“Especially coming up to Christmas and at the start of the summer time, the kids are asking their parents to go out.”

For those who “don't have a clue” when it comes to bait and reels, Graeme encouraged them to call into the shop.

“I’ll set the rods up and go through a few bits with them and help them along the way.

“That gets them out fishing.”

Each of his products and services are “all under the one roof” making it a one-stop-shop for all tackle and pet needs.
