Big switch on for Bailieborough next weekend

A brand new set of Christmas lights will be switched on in Bailieborough on Saturday, November 30, at 5pm.

After a ride through the town on his sleigh, Santa will switch on the lights and take photos with all the boys and girls in town.

Chairperson of the Bailieborough Christmas Lights Committee, Seamus Rahill, confirmed the news of Santa’s visit to The Anglo-Celt.

He informed that the new set of lights will be placed on Main Street and Barrack Street, while the rest of the town including all the churches will be decorated and shining brightly to guide Santa on his way.

Seamus, a father of three, fondly recalled taking his own children to different places to see Santa when they were younger. He feels it is important to invite Santa to the town.

“Christmas is always something special for a child and why would you rob a child of that bit of magic?”

The committee of volunteers are currently working to get the town ready for Santa and encouraged anybody who would like to get involved to message the Bailieborough Christmas Lights Committee Facebook page or chat to one of the members.
