Wind and rain to the fore as Strom Bert makes landfall

Stong and gusty southerly winds expected today.

Wet and windy conditions are anticipated across Cavan this morning due to Storm Bert.

Heavy rain is expected and this will lead to possible flooding. The rain will clear eastwards around lunchtime but showery rain will follow from the west later, turning heavy at times with hail and thunder possible.

Very strong and gusty southerly winds will decrease moderate for a time before increasing strong and gusty again by evening time. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.

Windy tonight and showery rain, which will be heavy at times, will lead to possible spot flooding. The rain will eventually clear into the Irish Sea but will be followed by clear spells and blustery showers.

Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.
