Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan, as reported on RIP.ie over the past few days. There were no deaths reported in County Monaghan.

Philomena (Mena) Giblin (née Reilly)

Aughalustia, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon and formerly of Kilcogy Village, Co. Cavan

May 22nd, 1950 – October 23rd, 2024.

Peacefully, with her family by her side, in the wonderful care of the doctors and nurses at Mayo University Hospital.

Mena will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband Frank, sons Michael, Kieran and Noel, brothers Oliver and Pius, sisters Etta (Farrell), Chrissie (Clarke) and Patsy (Murdock), daughter-in-law Christina, grandchildren Amy and Ryan, great-grandchildren Amber, Lucy and Fiadh, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May She Rest in Peace.

Mena will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Friday from 5pm until 7pm. Removal from the funeral home on Saturday at 10.30am to St. Nathy’s Cathedral arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am with the funeral proceeding to Kilcolman Cemetery.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in Mena's memory can be made to The Mayo / Roscommon Hospice Palliative Care Services.

Tom McGovern

Late of Kingsbury, London and formerly of Tonanilt, Glangevlin, Cavan

Tom McGovern, late of Kingsbury, London and formerly of Tonanilt, Glangevlin, Co Cavan passed away peacefully on the 5th October, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Marian, his children, Damian, Laoise, Kara and Thomas, his brothers, Jim and Pat, his grandchildren, extended family, and all those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 30th October, 11.30am at English Martyrs Church, Chalkhill Road, Wembley HA9 9EW, followed by burial at Mill Hill Cemetery, 89 Milespit Hill, London NW7 2RR.

Donations can be made to Macmillan Cancer Support in Memory of Tom McGovern.

Hannah McQuaid

2 Mullen Road, Emyvale, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Hannah McQuaid, 2 Mullen Road, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan. Tuesday 22nd October, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Mullinahinch Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Bridget Kate & Hamilton Sylvester, her husband Patrick, sisters Mary Browne, Chrissy O’Brien & Kitty Madden and brother John Joe Sylvester.

Hannah will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family; her sons James, Patrick (Angela), Stephen (Margarite) & Peter (Anita), daughters Elizabeth (Henry), Kathleen (Sean), Alice (Sean) & Theresa (Fabian), brother Anthony, sister Elizabeth, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Hannah’s remains will repose at her home on Wednesday from 3pm - 9pm and Thursday from 3pm - 9pm. Family time Friday morning please.

Funeral Mass on Friday morning at 11am St.Marys Church, Glennan. Burial afterwards in Drumbanagher Cemetery.
