Belturbet and Cavan Town get €80K for outdoor play facilities

Over €80K has been allocated to two parks in Cavan and Belturbet to encourage outdoor play.

The funding totalling €82,500 will go towards developing facilities in Morrissey Park, Belturbet and Con Smith Park, Cavan Town.

The award to Cavan Local Sports Partnership under the new Participation Nation Outdoor Fund was approved by Minister for Sport Thomas Byrne.

"This funding will enable the development of basketball courts, low level lighting, outdoor benches to facilitate games, outdoor soccer table and matting towards the provision of exercise areas in the Park," Deputy Brendan Smith said.

"This funding along with other government funding is enabling a major upgrade of both Morrissey Park, Belturbet and Con Smith Park, Cavan Town."

Monaghan

€60,000 has also been allocated to Monaghan Sports Partnership for the development of facilities at Lough Muckno, Ballybay Town Park and Rossmore Park. This will enable the provision of basketball courts, table tennis, pétanque and sport equipment storage unit.
