Sunday Sport: Man United take on in-form Aston Villa, Emerging Ireland face second test

Chelsea, who have started strongly in cup competitions, host Nottingham Forest in the top-flight this afternoon.

Kick off at Stamford Bridge is at 2pm, while at the same time, Manchester United take on Aston Villa.

Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire start for United, while Ross Barkley comes into the Villa midfield.

The late game is at the Amex Stadium where Tottenham will come up against Brighton from 4:30pm.

Shamrock Rovers can go second and put themselves right into the title challenge in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division this evening.

They welcome league leaders Shelbourne to Tallaght tonight for a 5:45pm kick off.

A win for the defending champions would see them go above Derry City but the Candystripes would have two games in hand.

Wexford FC are looking to book their spot in what would be a first ever FAI Cup final this afternoon.

The First Division side play top flight Drogheda United in the second semi final this weekend.

Drogs were winners of this competition in 2005 but haven't played in the decider since 2013.

Kick off at Weaver's Park is at 2:50pm.

Derry City await the winners in the final which will be played at the Aviva Stadium.

 

Rugby

The Emerging Ireland side are in action against Western Force in South Africa this afternoon.

Simon Easterby's youngsters have the lead in Bloemfontein 26-21.

Jude Postlewaite, Cormac Izuchukwu, Chay Mullins and Sean Jansen have all crossed over for the visitors.

They are looking for their second win of the tour after beating the Pumas in game one.

 

Golf

Padraig Harrington is rolling back the years during the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour.

The 53-year-old is 53-year-as he lies 5 under through 13 and 16 under par for the week.

That puts him in a tie for 13th as things stand.

Tom McKibbin is two shots further back while Shane Lowry is on 13 under par and Rory McIlroy remains 12 under par

Tyrell Hatton has regained the lead on 24 under par.

 

Racing

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is the big race of the day in Paris this afternoon

Aidan O'Brien is looking for his third win in the prestigious race and sends Continuous and Los Angeles in this year's renewal.

His son Joseph also saddles a horse in the race with Al Riffa.

That one goes to post at 20 past 3 Irish time while there's also racing at home in Tipperary and Killarney.

Those races are just underway.
