Changing facilities needed at Ballyconnell lock

Cavan County Council is being urged to provide outdoor changing facilities at lock 2 in Ballyconnell for water enthusiasts.

Cllr Damien Brady (SF) received unanimous support for his motion during this month’s meeting of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District.

He highlighted how the area was part of the Shannon/Erne Waterway that incorporated a cross-border community initiative for those interested in white-water rafting.

“People are changing in the carpark - men, women and children - so there needs to be proper facilities put in place,” he said.

“Could we get funding from the Outdoor Recreation fund for this perhaps? I know that whatever we can do will be appreciated by those who use the facilities there.”
