'Rubbernecker' fined for snapping traffic accident

Three penalty points and a €120 fine issued

Local gardaí fined a motorist for using his phone after they were caught for 'rubbernecking' and taking photos of a crash scene whilst passing.

Officers attached to Carrickmacross were dealing with the collision early this week when they spotted the driver of a white car taking photos of the scene on his phone.

"We call this poor driving behaviour, 'rubbernecking'," gardaí said in a post shared on social media.

Three penalty points and a €120 fine were issued for using their phone while driving.

They also provided an update in relation to the motorist of the crashed car.

"Fortunately the driver involved in the single vehicle collision was uninjured."
