IWA begins phased re-opening of in-person services

Successful recruitment drive.

IWA Cavan Community Centre has begun to introduce a phased re-opening of in-person services following a challenging number of months that involved a restructure of service provision.

Since April 2024, service provision in the IWA Cavan area had been reduced to an Outreach only service that involved community outings/daytrips, home visits, zoom and phone calls but no in-person service in the community centre.

From August 19, members of IWA will return to the centre on a phased basis to engage in community centre activities, thanks to a successful recruitment drive by the IWA Cavan Team in conjunction with the IWA Central Services Team.

Recruitment drives undertaken by IWA have been successful and there is a new team in place to support members in a safe and person-centred manner in line with IWA’s values, policies and procedures.

Ruth Fox, Service Co-ordinator in Cavan said: “We are just thrilled to have our members back in the centre. It’s so lovely to hear the chatter, laughter, and feel the fun in the air again. There is an amazing buzz amongst our members and staff as we celebrate each group’s return. Everyone is so happy to see each other again”.

Collaboration is ongoing with the HSE in relation to the business case for long -term support requirements with an outcome anticipated in the very near future.

Ruth added: “Without the support of IWA’s members, their families, the local community including local government representatives and national representatives, the phased re-opening would not have been possible.”

IWA wishes to extend its deepest gratitude for the patience, understanding, compassion and overall support received from the Cavan community throughout this challenging time.

IWA Cavan continues to be focussed on supporting members to return to full-service following this phased re-opening and will continue to liaise with members at a local level in relation to this.
