Cavan TD meets new UK Prime Minister
The new British Prime Minister met with an Irish Parliamentary delegation that included Niamh Smyth TD.
Keir Starmer met with the Irish group directly after facing his first grilling in the House of Commons during Prime Minister Questions last Wednesday.
Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan and Monaghan Niamh Smyth was in Westminster as part of the delegation meeting with SDLP leader Colum Eastwood MP. Mr Starmer spoke of how bonds had already improved between the two governments following his meeting with An Taoiseach Simon Harris.
Deputy Niamh Smyth also meet with SDLP MP Claire Hannah who had been raising the issue of funding for Casement Park with the Irish Ambassador to United Kingdom, Martin Fraser , in the Irish Embassey at a function marking 40 years of the FAI supporters association in London.
“It was fantastic to meet the new Prime Minister who was really enthusiastic towards us about future relations with Ireland,” stated Deputy Niamh Smyth.
