Joint funeral for crash tragedy friends

Mark ‘Beaver’ Eager and Stuart ‘Stuewy’ O’Connell sadly lost their liveslast Sunday afternoon.

A joint funeral will take place for two close friends who died in a tragic three-motorbike crash in Meath at the weekend

Mark ‘Beaver’ Eager, of Stoney Road, and Stuart ‘Stuewy’ O’Connell, Mount Dutton, both from Oldcastle, sadly lost their lives following the collision last Sunday afternoon on the R195 road at Bellaney, between Oldcastle and Castlepollard.

A third man continues to be treated in hospital with “serious injuries”, while another man was taken to hospital for injuries believed to be non life-threatening.

Mark Eager and Stuart O’Connell will be laid to rest following funeral mass at St. Brigids Church, in their hometown on Thursday.

Mr Eager is predeceased by his mother Ann and is survived by his children Rhys and Ruby, their mother Ann-Marie, father Joe, brother Jason (Aisling), sisters Joanne and Karen, nephews Killian, Aaron, Evan, J P and Odhran, nieces Ava, Chantelle, Makala, Hannah and Heidi, great nephew Noah, close family members and his wide circle of heartbroken friends.

Mr O'Connell meanwhile is predeceased by his dad Frank, granny Mary, grandad Larry and uncle Paddy, and is survived by his mother Angela, brother of Ann Marie, David (Lisa), Malina and Pauric (Sarah).

He will be will be greatly missed by his loving partner Nikkol, sons Tyler and Theo, heartbroken mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, heartbroken friends and neighbours.

The remains of both men will repose at Gibneys Funeral Home, Oldcastle (A82D376) on Wednesday from 4pm-7pm.
