Minister opens new Intreo Centre in Carrickmacross
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, officially opened the Department of Social Protection’s new Intreo Centre in Carrickmacross, the first in Co Monaghan.
Similar to the one already in Cavan located on Thomas Ashe Street, the Intreo facility will serve as a ‘one-stop-shop’ – expanding on the services that were previously provided by the Social Welfare branch office in Carrickmacross.
Commenting at last Monday's opening, Minister Humphreys said it had been her “ambition” to bring Intreo to Monaghan.
“This represents a commitment on behalf of Government to providing vital services in rural Ireland.
“This new office will act as a ‘one-stop-shop’ - providing a comprehensive service to families and citizens living in the community.”
The new Intreo Centre in Carrickmacross is located on Ardee Road, Magheross.
Minister Humphreys added: “Our motto in Social Protection is a simple one. ‘We are here to help’. This new Intreo Centre will provide comprehensive social welfare services to the entire population of this town and county.
“Finally, I want to pay tribute to Francie Treanor, the former branch office manager in Carrickmacross who retired last week after providing 44 years of dedicated service to the role.”
