Gardaí warn of cold-callers offering tarmacking services

Reports over a 48 hour period in the Kilnaleck, Belturbet and Ballyhaise areas.

Gardaí in Cavan are warning the public to be aware, and to contact them if necessary, if approached by a “group of males” allegedly seen calling to houses unsolicited and offering to tar-macadam driveways or yards.

It follows a number of reports in Cavan, received over a 48 hour period, in the Kilnaleck, Belturbet and Ballyhaise areas.

“These men can be very persuasive and pushy,” report gardaí, who say that the services are being offered for a “cut down price or for free and then once the job is done charging extortionate prices.”

“Do not engage them. Notify Gardai immediately,” add gardaí.
