Man arrested over Cootehill road fatality

Gardaí investigating the fatal road traffic collision involving two lorries last winter on the outskirts of Cootehill arrested a man.

The accident occurred on Monday, November 6 on the R188, between Cootehill and Rockcorry, on the County Monaghan side and a man aged in his 40s was fatally injured.

Gardaí arrested a man yesterday morning - Wednesday, May 15 in relation to this investigation. The man, aged in his 30s, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Monaghan District.

He has since been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are ongoing.
