50 year reunion for St Oliver's, Oldcastle

It is 50 years this year since the first group from the 'new' St Oliver's Comprehensive School in Oldcastle sat their Leaving Cert and a reunion to mark the milestone will take place in Caffrey's of Oldcastle on 1st June.

Organisers are now trying to make contact with as many of the year group as possible in advance of the event.

Gilson Secondary School amalgamated with the Vocational School in Oldcastle in 1969 to form the new St Oliver's Comprehensive School. Around 40 students- a mix of boys and girls- started in first year in 1969.

The name of the school was later changed to St Oliver's Post Primary School and today has around 600 students.

A reunion of the original class will take place on 1st June in Caffrey's of Oldcastle. If you were part of that class at any time, whether you came ot the class later than 1969 or left it earlier than 1974, you are invited to come along to the reunion.

The organisers do not have contact details for many of the class members and are hoping to get word to as many people as possible. If you were part of the class and are able to attend, please email stoliversschoolreunion@gmail.com.
