ASI to host dementia inclusive community meeting in Cavan
Over the next 7 days, Brain Awareness Week takes place
The next few days will see Brain Awareness Week taking place across Ireland. As part of that, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) will hold a dementia-inclusive community event at the Town Hall Arts Centre in Cavan from 7:30-9:30pm on Wednesday, March 20.
The aim of the gathering is to encourage people, businesses and services across the county to become Friends of ASI and create a dementia-inclusive community. The organisation says people with dementia are among the most marginalised, and can often face social exclusion and stigma.
“Dementia Inclusive Communities aims to address this by aiding towns to become nurturing spaces for people with dementia and their families,” a spokesperson added. “This upcoming event underscores The ASI’s commitment to supporting people affected by dementia in Co Cavan.”
Meanwhile, last June Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys opened The ASI Daycare Centre in Cavan town. It's a place that provides vital support to the community.
