WATCH: Stepping out for St Patrick's Day

Dressed in green, the pre-school children of Stepping Stones had their own mini-St Patrick's Day parade around Cavan Town this morning.

The county town won't be hosting a parade in honour of the national saint this Sunday for the first time since Covid, but eager to ensure the children didn't miss out on the fun, the staff at the Cavan pre-school arranged their own event.

Scores of young pupils waved flags as they made their way along the footpaths of Main Street. It brought a welcome splash of colour to the town and raised smiles from shoppers. The children paraded back up College Street before returning to their pre-school for a well deserved treat.
