Contracts signed for 33 turnkey units in Kingscourt
Cavan County Council has signed contracts with Darra Bridge Housing Ltd for the provision of 33 turnkey social homes at Lisaturrin in Kingscourt.
Local Cavan company, Wynne Gormley Gilsenan is the project architect overseeing the scheme design. The total project cost is €9.44 million, exclusive of VAT, which is being funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage.
Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Councillor Philip Brady, welcomed the contract signing, saying: “This development sees 33 much-needed social homes provided in this locality, which will bring life-changing stability to many families in the area, and boost the local economy.”
Cavan County Council’s Acting Director of Service for Housing, Lynda McGavigan, said:“This development forms a significant strand of Cavan County Council’s ambitious housing delivery programme under the Government’s ‘Housing for All’ plan. It also illustrates the success of our multi-pronged approach, with this turnkey development complementing our efforts in advancing our own building programme, purchasing existing properties, and our active voids programme, which returns vacant units to our active housing stock.”
The scheme comprises four one-bed units, 16 two-bed units, nine three-bed houses and four four-bed houses, and will be completed in three stages. Twenty-three houses will be completed in 2024, with the remaining ten houses to be completed in mid-2025.
