Mastek - For all your low emissions slurry spreading needs
Mastek manufactures high-quality, low-emission slurry equipment and applicators. Based in Cootehill, the company exports to the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand. Mastek is focused on supporting farmers and the agricultural industry. Products are designed to meet the individual needs of its customers and it’s dedicated to providing high-quality, reliable solutions that enhance productivity and sustainability.
Under the TAMS 3 Low Emissions Slurry Spreading (LESS) scheme, which was announced last year, from January 1, applicants farming at or above 150kgs/N per hectare in the year of the application, or in the preceding year, as ineligible to apply for LESS equipment.
From January 1, 2025, applicants farming at or above 130kgs/N per hectare in the relevant years are ineligible to apply for LESS equipment and, from January 1, 2026, applicants farming at or above 100kgs/N per hectare in the year of application or the preceding year are ineligible to apply for LESS equipment.
Noel Markey says the company has evolved because of the role of slurry spreading machinery in national environmental measures. “We have gone from the traditional splash plate to putting slurry into the soil with a dribble bar - that’s the way regulations around all of this are going,” he explained.
“It’s all about lowering agricultural emissions. We have the Flexi Trailing Shoe in stock and it’s a machine that works well around here because of the hills and uneven ground,” he added.
“This equipment is going to prove popular in many areas of the country because it means farmers won’t have to change tanks or change their tractor and they will be carrying out their work in accordance with the regulations,” continued Noel.
It was 2009 when Mastek entered the agricultural machinery sector, developing an umbilical drag hose system for slurry spreading. In 2018, after four years of development, the company released its award-winning patented Mastek SuperCut Macerator.
The business has been going from strength to strength since its inception back in 2000.
The company’s products can be seen at this year’s Spring Farm Machinery Show, which is taking place in Cavan at the end of this month.
