Cavan General remind patients to seek "alternative" to A&E amid Covid outbreak
"The hospital is managing multiple COVID and Flu outbreaks."
Cavan General Hospital have issued a reminder to the public to use "alternative pathways" due its current high volume of patients in A&E.
The notice was issued by Su-Zann O’Callaghan, General Manager, Cavan & Monaghan Hospital who stated "Our Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients."
The statement covers both Cavan and Monaghan General Hospitals.
"Please be advised our Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients and remains busy following the Christmas period. It is expected to remain busy into the New Year."
"In addition, the hospital is managing multiple COVID and Flu outbreaks.
"Please note that ED is still available if you need emergency care but we would appreciate your support in using alternative pathways for non-emergency care e.g. GP, Pharmacy, Minor Injuries Unit in Monaghan Hospital."
The notice was previously issued last week, however patient numbers remain high following the weekend.
