Trending warmer until midweek then becoming cooler from the north on Thursday. Temperatures could hit 21 or 22 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. High pressure will maintain mostly dry and settled conditions throughout. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.
Largely dry today, Monday, with remaining patchy rain and drizzle in the west and north clearing quickly this morning. Quite cloudy to begin, but long spells of hazy sunshine will gradually develop in most parts as the day goes on. There is the chance of some coastal mist and fog at times. Highs of 14 to 19 degrees, warmest over the northern half of the country. Light to moderate south to southeast breezes will be fresh at times along some coasts.
Dry tonight with variable cloud and clear spells. Mist and fog patches will form overnight too. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light southeast or variable breezes overland, moderate to fresh along western and southern coasts.
Warm and dry tomorrow, Tuesday, with plenty of hazy sunshine, once early mist and fog patches clear. Highs of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate south to southeast or variable breezes, fresh at times near southwestern coasts.
Dry with variable cloud and clear breaks overnight on Tuesday. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Mist and fog patches will form in the light southerly or variable breezes overland, moderate along northern and some western and southern coasts.
Warm and mostly sunny on Wednesday. A few showers could bubble up in the afternoon but most places will stay dry. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest breezes, becoming mostly light and variable in the evening. Most places will start dry and clear on Wednesday night, although thickening cloud in the northwest will gradually extend southeastwards overnight with a few spots of light rain or drizzle possible. Areas of mist and fog will form too. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light variable breezes becoming light northerly towards dawn.
Thursday will be a cloudier day overall with a few light showers in the mix, although some sunny breaks will still occur. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in Connacht and Ulster but ranging 15 to 19 degrees in Munster and Leinster. Light to moderate northerly winds, fresh at times along southwestern coasts. A mix of cloud and clear spells on Thursday night with isolated light showers. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in mainly light northerly breezes.
Sunny spells in the east and south to begin on Friday, before mostly cloudy conditions spread from the northwest for the afternoon with a few light showers possible. Fine spells increasing again for the evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in mainly light northerly breezes.
Next Weekend: High pressure will continue to dominate bringing broadly settled conditions and only small amounts (if any) rain. Daytime temperatures look set to climb back into the high teens or low 20s away from eastern coasts with light northeast breezes becoming light to moderate easterly on Sunday.
