Americana-style band 'Whistle' launch new album this Saturday

Six-piece band 'Whistle' will launch their new album this Saturday (April 26) at The Wild Duck in Temple Bar.

The Americana-style band known for their lively performances and rich blend of bluegrass, country and old-time music spoke to the Celt on the release, which they are "really looking forward" to.

"We're really looking forward to it, we've put a lot of work into recording those songs," said guitarist Des Walsh, who is originally from Dublin but has been living in Cornafean for the past seven years.

"They're all songs that we've written ourselves so we're really interested to get them out and see what people think."

The launch event will consist of a short introduction from the band members, who will explain each of the songs they have written. Des himself has penned four of the songs in the album.

"A little bit of the story behind it and a snippet of the song as well just to introduce the whole album and how we came about.

"After that we're just going to launch into a full gig," he enthused.

Tickets for the event are on sale online and are currently "nearly gone" however there will be some available for walk-ins on the night.

"We're almost sold out which is fantastic."

The event will take place on April 26 at The Wild Duck, Sycamore street, Temple bar, Dublin at 4pm.
