Rainy day, unsettled to the end of the week

Weather update from Met Éireann

Unsettled to end the week with a spell of heavy rain on Friday. Gradually becoming dry through the weekend with current indications suggesting a bright day on Easter Sunday. That's the latest weather outlook for Met Éireann.

Outbreaks of rain will continue across Leinster and east Ulster today, heavy in places at first with possible spot flooding. Five counties remain under a status yellow rain warning until this afternoon including neighbouring County Meath.

The rain will ease away to the northeast in the evening. Staying dry further west with sunny breaks. Highest temperatures of 6 to 13 degrees, warmest in the southwest, in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.

Any remaining rain will clear to the northeast early tonight, leaving dry conditions and long clear spells for most. A few showers will develop in Atlantic coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees in a light variable breeze.

Dry and bright at first tomorrow with isolated showers. Turning cloudier through the morning with more widespread and prolonged showers developing by afternoon. Rain will move into the southwest in the evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.

Becoming wet overnight on Thursday with rain spreading across the country from the south, turning heavy in places with potential for localised flooding. Becoming breezy too with light easterly winds freshening overnight. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

A wet and breezy day on Good Friday with widespread rain, heavy for some with a possibility of localised flooding. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in fresh southeasterly winds, strong on east and southeast coasts.

Outbreaks of rain will gradually ease and become patchy overnight on Friday. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.

Rather cloudy to start on Saturday with scattered patches of rain and drizzle. It will gradually brighten up through the day with any lingering rain slowly clearing to the south. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with moderate easterly winds easing by evening.

A drier and brighter day on Easter Sunday with spells of sunshine, especially across the east of the country. However, there is the chance of a few showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees, a little cooler near east coasts in a light easterly breeze.

Some further rain and showers for the early days of next week.
