Local woman lands tastiest job in town!

Dearbhla Smith from Stradone has officially scored the tastiest job in town as ALDI’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer.

In March, the supermarket chain called on chocolate lovers across Ireland to enter the unique competition and be in with the chance of landing the dream role.

Sweet-toothed applicants jumped at the opportunity to showcase their passion for all things chocolate with applications flying in from every corner of the country.

Ultimately, Dearbhla impressed the judges with her knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for chocolate! She, alongside two other lucky winners - Ciaran Behan from County Dublin and Amy Bowdren from County Cork - will now receive ALDI’s entire range of Easter eggs to sample, taste and critique.

They will each provide their egg-spert feedback, which will be used to inform the selection available across Irish stores in 2026 and ensure that Ireland’s chocolate cravings are fully satisfied.

Meanwhile, Dearbhla added: "This is the sweetest surprise and I am delighted to have been chosen. I’ve always taken chocolate tasting very seriously so I am excited to get cracking.”
