A much loved woman deeply involved in the community
A community and a family circle has been thrown into a state of grief and shock with the very sudden passing of Mrs Doris Fuller, Ballintemple, which occurred at Beaumont Hospital on Friday, March 28.
A young woman in the prime of her busy life just taken away leaving all those who knew her simply dumbfounded asking how this can happen to such an active person?
We all got to know Doris when she and her husband Wayne built their beautiful new home alongside the Ballinagh/Kilnaleck Road back around the early 1990s.
She and Wayne had met in Lisnaskea where she worked. She also worked for a time at Belfast International Airport. Wayne ran a very successful business in Lisnaskea in the form of a fishing tackle shop, and he was a very keen fisherman who took part in competitions where he was many times a prizewinner.
Doris and Wayne went on to raise a family of three- two boys and a girl- all very much loved and cared for over the years.
Doris was very much a community person, always involved for the betterment of everyone and we recall the many times she would have supported activities here in the Bruskey area, in particular the fundraising festivals which were so successful and a vital component in the building of the beautiful new community centre.
And that involvement in her area was the very last thing she was doing, preparing to attend a meeting of her church committee where funds have to be raised when she was suddenly taken ill. Sadly it was life ending.
Doris came from a family of three, to parents Eileen and Joe, where she shared her childhood with brothers Joe and William. Sadly, when she was just six years old, tragedy came to the family home when William lost his young life in a farming accident.
A woman who loved life, family and home, a place she kept and cared for immaculately - lawns flowers, shrubs all tended to with love and devotion.
The place of her employment, Crossdoney Tractor Parts, has lost an employee who had won the hearts of all its customers, and that friendly greeting and heart warming smile will be so much missed from behind the counter of the thriving business.
Despite her busy life, she always made time to go for a good long walk with her friends who will all miss her dearly, none more so than Sandra Bennett who shared so many of those times with her and all those happy days will often be recalled.
When one so vibrant, happy and full of life is suddenly gone it leaves an empty void and it will require a lengthy time to come to terms with, especially in the family circle and indeed beyond.
And so our parish says farewell to a woman who always made you feel good when you met and spoke to her, she was someone who has left many friends with a load of treasured memories, ones they will often recall in the days, months and years ahead.
May her gracious soul rest in peace in a place where no shadows fall.
Doris reposed at Lakeland’s Funeral Home where many came to offer their condolences and then on Monday it was the short journey from her home down the road to Ballintemple Parish Church where large crowds gathered for her funeral service which was celebrated by Rev Dean Crossy, and when it was all over she was laid to rest in Kilmore Cathedral Parish Graveyard.
To her heartbroken family, husband Wayne, sons Mark (Ellie), Adam (Tara), daughter Louise (Darragh), loving mother Eileen, adored grandmother of Jack and Evie, loving sister of Joe (Margaret) and all the extended family we offer our deep condolences and keep you all in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.
