Kingspan to construct new plant in Ukraine

Kingspan Group has been granted permission to begin work on a €280m building materials manufacturing campus in Ukraine.

The world leader in high-performance insulation and building will locate the new premises near the city of Lviv.

With the first building permit granted by the State Inspection of Architecture and Urban Planning (DIAM), work will now begin on preparing the site for the first phase of construction.

A significant portion of the campus is expected to be built within five years.

When complete, the campus will support over 700 jobs, providing a significant contribution to the local economy.

Kingspan first announced it was investing in building a new facility in Ukraine in June 2022.

The new campus will be powered by low carbon solutions including renewable energy, and will manufacture advanced insulation, as well as other building material products and district heating solutions.

A Kingspan spokesperson said the building technology deployed combined with the materials produced at the campus, will play an important role in Ukraine’s reconstruction effort and help meet the rapidly growing demand for energy efficient buildings and facilities in Central and Eastern Europe.

They stated these technologies are central to the urgent effort to decarbonise the global built environment, which is responsible for 39 per cent of all energy-related carbon emissions.

Kingspan’s Ukraine Project Director Mike Stenson said the company are "thrilled" to get the greenlight to begin work on the site.

"We were among the first Western businesses to announce plans to invest in Ukraine since the full scale invasion, and we have been fully committed ever since."

He said they are "working closely" with officials local to the site and Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy and Ukraine Invest.

"We’re very excited for our vision at this stage to become a reality,” he said.

The Kingspan Group operates in more than 80 countries, with over 273 manufacturing facilities around the world and employs over 27,000 people globally.

Through organic growth and acquisition, it has established itself as a global force for advanced building technologies and energy efficient solutions that enable low carbon buildings.
