From Dowra to Paris for Fashion Week '25
An indigenous Cavan business will showcase its wares during the prestigious Paris Fashion Week later this year.
Margaret Coyne established her own brand ‘Margaret Coyne Couture’ in 2021 and since then has been operating her fashion business from Dowra Courthouse.
A native of Kildare, she moved to Dowra six years ago with her late husband who sadly passed away October 2024.
A graduate of the Grafton Academy Dublin, Margaret has over 20 years experience in both tailoring and bridal wear. She takes a hands-on approach to all aspects, from design to cutting and fitting, right through to producing the stunning finished piece.
For those lucky enough to wear one of Margaret’s elegant creations they will not be surprised to hear her work will now feature on the Paris catwalk this coming October.
Each and every dress is regarded by Margaret to be a work of art.
Just one piece at a time passes through the West Cavan studio, allowing Margaret to give every client and their desires her undivided care and attention.
“There were open submissions from Paris Fashion Week organisers for designers from all around the world, I submitted a collection and here we are,” Margaret told The Anglo Celt this week, admitting she is getting “very excited” at the prospect of rubbbing shoulders with some of the most respected global industry names.
“I got this far on the strength of sketches, etc, so now I have to sit down and produce the collection. It’s going to be a ready-to-wear couture collection consisting of two bridal looks that go from day to evening wear.”
The Cavan designer is though under no illusions as to just how transformational this opportunity could be for her business.
“The press, influencers and buyers from around the world will be there so yes, this really is something that could open doors for me; it really is very exciting,” adds Margaret.
“The big magazines, Vogue, Marie-Claire, Tatler will all be there as well…It’s lovely to have something to focus on and look forward to and hopefully it will bring my tiny west Cavan business to a new level.”
