Cavan set to turn yellow this Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day, the flagship fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society, with volunteers set to sell pins all over the county and country to raise vital funds for support services locally.

Local woman Tara Doonan is the Cavan Ambassador for the Irish Cancer Society and she's urging people to get behind the fundraiser and turn Cavan yellow today!

Diagnosed with breast cancer at just 36, Killeshandra native Tara leaned heavily on Irish Cancer Society supports including the support line and remote counselling, all of which are only made possible because of fundraisers like Daffodil Day.

In 2024, the support in Cavan provided over 140 free lifts to bring Cavan-based cancer patients to their treatment; over 110 free counselling sessions to people living in Cavan; and almost 100 nights of free Night Nursing care to allow cancer patients in Cavan to die at home surrounded by loved ones.
