€32K in funding for biodiversity projects in Cavan Monaghan

Funding is administered by Community Foundation Ireland.

€32,500 for Climate action and biodiversity projects in Cavan and Monaghan has been allocated this morning. The recipients include Bawnboy Tidy Towns, €5,000; St Mogue’s College Bawnboy, €5,000; Shercock Tidy Towns, €7,500; Monaghan Tidy Towns, €7,500; Castleblayney Tidy Towns, €5,000; and Doohamlet Tidy Towns, €2,500.

Local Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith says the funding will prove most beneficial to the selected groups in the region. “I welcome funding of €32,500 for biodiversity and climate action projects to be undertaken by the Tidy Towns Associations in Bawnboy, Shercock, Monaghan Town, Castleblayney and Doohamlet,” he added.

“St. Mogue's College, Bawnboy will also receive grant aid of €5,000 for their sustainability and biodiversity project. These schemes are administered by Community Foundation Ireland.

"I compliment the successful applicants and Tidy Towns Associations throughout Cavan and Monaghan who do excellent work in keeping areas clean and also protecting and enhancing the local environment.

"The funding is extremely valuable to local organisations who can get some support to develop plans unique to their own area based on local biodiversity.”
