EIR challenged over continuing connection issues after storm
Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr T.P. O’Reilly (FG) is calling for clarification from EIR following the company’s “recent repair works” in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn.
His comments came during the March meeting of the local authority last week when he highlighted the “amount of calls” he had received from people complaining about EIR.
“People are telling me that EIR is not fixing their connection problems; some have told me that EIR representatives have told them they need a cutting device to access their homes,” continued Cllr O’Reilly.
“This is absolutely unacceptable, we need to write to EIR and challenge this carry on.”
Meanwhile, Cllr Shane P. O’Reilly (II) pointed to EIR “blaming” local authorities for the problems locally. “That company is not carrying out its obligations; in fact I would say that it is hiding behind its own inefficiencies,” he said.
“It is totally unacceptable to blame local authorities for their inefficiencies and we are no longer going to accept this.”
It was agreed that the local authority would write to EIR expressing its concerns about the situation locally.
