Hospital overcrowding: Over 540 people waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals

There was 542 people waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals on Monday morning, according to the Irish Midwives and Nurses Organisation (INMO).

375 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 167 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

University Hospital Limerick has the highest number of people waiting for a bed, with 100 patients treated on trolleys.

36 people are in the emergency department, with 64 elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Galway has 61 people waiting for a bed, with 44 in the emergency department.

Letterkenny University Hospital has 35 people waiting for a bed, with 18 people in the emergency department.
