Abbeylara farm set to make €300K

A superb 25-acre, non-residential farm has come to the market in the Abbeylara area of County Longford.

The lands at Ballyboy, Abbeylara, Co Longford, will go under the hammer at a public and online auction next month.

The lands in question are laid out in four fields and are described as being of “top quality”. It fronts on to the Ballyboy lane, just a short distance from the Abbeylara/Lisryan road.

Eamon Drake Auctioneers are handling the sale and auction. Terry Drake told the Celt this week that he is expecting “strong interest” in the auction. The property is being guided at around €12,000 an acre.

Mr Drake said the land is “flexible for a number of uses” but would also make a good investment.

The auction will take place in ‘The Bank’, Market Street, Granard (N39RW96) at 3pm on Friday, March 28.

Those wishing to bid online must contact the office to register.

Land for lease at Ballynacarrigy

Meanwhile, Eamon Drake Auctioneers also has a large farm for lease in neighbouring County Westmeath at Tristernagh, Ballynacarrigy.

There are around 230 acres with sheds for lease.

Again, the lands are described as being of “good quality”.

The property also includes a slatted unit for approximately 150–200 cattle with no entitlements attached.

The farm is located approximately 9km off the N4 and 5km from Ballynacarrigy.

Mr Drake said a five-year lease is available and, given the total acreage, it’s expected to cost in the region of €70,000 a year.

“Because it’s entitlement free, it’s definitely suitable for the Young Farmers’ Scheme,” Mr Drake told the Celt.
