Over €3k raised at charity quiz night

Over €3,000 was raised at a charity quiz night in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

Organised by Tess Brady, Chrissie Murray and Cathleen O’Hagen, the night took place in the Bridge Inn in Mount Nugent on November 9.

They passed the cheque over to Colin Bell of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust last Wednesday. Colin was "delighted" to receive the funds.

"To me it wasn't big money but, nevertheless, it will add to the pot for somebody else," organiser Tess Brady said.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the bodies of their loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland. "One of our members, their son was brought home years ago [by the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust]," Tess said, explaining why they held the event.

The night had over 25 tables with people of all ages coming from all over to support the event.

"It was a lovely quiz as quizzes go," she said, praising the quiz master, Larry McGinn, who brought a "lovely range" of questions.

"Everyone enjoyed it, all the people there and they said it to us afterwards."

Tess said they "might" organise another quiz night in the future.

"We never say never," she laughed.
