Young man who died in tragic accident on Lough Ramor named

Funeral details confirmed for popular young Navan man

The young man who lost his life following an accident on Lough Ramor on Thursday evening has been named as Jack Powderly McEntee from Ardbraccan, Navan, Co Meath.

His body was recovered from Lough Ramor in the early hours of Friday morning following a search and rescue operation in Virginia, County Cavan.

Gardaí confirmed that the body of a man in his 20s was recovered from the water.

"Emergency services were alerted to an incident at Lough Ramor at around 9:40pm and, following a search by the local fire brigade, Civil Defence and Meath River Rescue, a body was recovered.

"Gardaí will now focus on preparing a file for the County Coroner."

Meath River Rescue posted online: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends."

Jack's remains will repose at St Joseph’s Chapel of Rest, Old Johnstown (C15 C425) on Sunday, February 23, from 3-6pm.

His funeral mass will be celebrated at St Ultan’s Church, Bohermeen, on Monday, February 24, at 11am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Jack was pre-deceased by his grandad Tommy.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his heartbroken parents Debbie and Maurice, devoted brother Alex, grandparents Maureen, Jean and Sean, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
