Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Craig POWELL

Churchtown, Dublin / Annaglough, Cavan

Suddenly, and to the inexpressible grief of his beloved wife Jenny and much loved children Molly, Luke, Emily, and Michael.

He will be very sadly missed by his loving family, brother Dermot, sisters-in-law Veronica, Catherine, Sheila, Katie, Clare, and Rachel, brothers-in-law Michael, Eamonn, Ger, Mike, and Paul, mother-in-law Fran, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.

Predeceased by his mother Geraldine (January 2025), father Derek and brother Ed (August 2023).

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Willbrook, Rathfarnham on Sunday afternoon (23rd February) from 2pm to 4pm. Removal on Monday morning (24th February) to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Churchtown arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery.

No flowers please. Donations, if desired to Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.

George Reilly

67 Harmony Heights, Cavan Town, Cavan

George Reilly, 67 Harmony Heights, Cavan Town and formerly Drumheel, Ballinagh, Friday, February 21st 2025, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness bravely fought. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, brothers Brian and Alfie and his sister Kathleen. George will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his heartbroken wife Sue and his beloved children, Georgina (Shane), Sarah Jane (Dozy) and Gerard, his adored grandchildren Shayna, Aimee, Xabi, Sophie, Sergio, Caoimhe, Xanthe and Mason, his brothers Peter, Bob, John Joe and Willie, sisters Mary, Jean and Nellie, his brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, all his extended family and many, many friends.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12 C821) on Sunday evening from 4pm until 7pm. George's remains will leave his home on Monday morning at 10.30am, travelling via the Cock Hill and Ashe St, to the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in Cullies Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to the Palliative Care Unit at Cavan General Hospital c/o Mc Mahon Funeral Directors, Cavan or any family member.

June (Julie B) Boyd

Tattenclave, Oram, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of June (Julie B) Boyd, Weston Avenue, Sommerville, Massachusetts, United States of America and formerly Tattenclave, Oram, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Thursday 6th February peacefully in the care of staff at Brighton House Nursing, Boston.

Pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Mary, sisters Maura Boyd (Tattenclave, Oram) Patricia Serrecchia (Castleblayney) and Peggy Cummins (Sheffield). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sister Dympna (Boston), nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and wide circle of friends.

A memorial mass commemorating the life of June will be celebrated on Wednesday 26th February 2025 at 10am in St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney, with burial afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Oram.

Bree, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Christopher Coogan, (No.2) Bree, Castleblayney, Co.Monaghan. Friday 21st February 2025 peacefully in the care of staff at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Pre-deceased by his parents Kevin & Betty Coogan, his brothers Owen, Paddy and Gerry, and his sister Ann in infancy.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sister Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Christopher will repose at his home in Bree, Castleblayney on Sunday, 23th February from 4pm until 8pm.

Christopher’s funeral cortège will leave his home on Monday, 24th February arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St Mary's Church Castleblayney, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Maureen Mary Elizabeth O'Sullivan

(née Mc Manus)

Corratanty, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Annyalla, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Maureen Mary Elizabeth O’Sullivan (Nee Mc Manus) Corratanty, Castleblayney, Co.Monaghan. Thursday 19th January 2025 peacefully in the care of North Middlesex University Hospital, Edmonton, London, surrounded by her family.

Pre-deceased by her parents John McManus and her mother Mary McManus (Nee Mc Cabe), her brothers Jack Mc Manus and Frank Mc Manus, late of Corratanty, Castleblayney, Monaghan.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her daughters Bernadette Mary Elizabeth O’Sullivan, Ann Marie O’Sullivan and her son Sean O’Sullivan and extended O’Sullivan family and wide circle of friends.

A memorial mass commemorating the life of Maureen Mary Elizabeth O’Sullivan will be celebrated on Friday 28th February 2025 at 10 am in St Mary's Church, Castleblayney, Monaghan with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
