Teen remanded on bail following Valentine's night assault

A seventeen year old has been remanded on bail in connection with a Valentine's night assault in Cavan Town.

The youth, who cannot be named at this time, is charged with a serious assault. He appeared before Monaghan District Court this morning.

He was charged with assault causing harm to another man on February 14 last outside a bar at Main Street, Abbeylands, Cavan Town.

The defendant was remanded on bail to a sitting of Cavan District Court last this month.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate all of the circumstances around the assault.

A man aged in his 20s sustained "serious injuries", according to gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing.
