Wonder Women’s annual meeting

The Wonder Women’s Group is holding an AGM in Teach Oscail and are encouraging ladies in the area to come along.

The group was established four years ago and gives women a space to meet, chat, have a cup of tea and participate in various activities.

Public Relations Officer Helena Duffy described how the group meets every fortnight. Through Teach Oscail, they host exercise classes, day trips and games and open their doors to people from all different backgrounds.

Taking place from 2pm until 4pm, there is currently 14 members in the group whom Helena described as “good fun”.

“It’s actually a meet up, social group really.

“It’s a kind of a group that, if you’re not able to attend, it’s not the end of the world.”

The group began to give women an outlet.

“It’s just nice to meet up with friends or meet new friends.”

When she’s not babysitting, Helena would “enjoy” going to the group.

“To me it’s something to do really because I’m retired now and I’ve a lot of time on my hands when I’m not booked for babysitting.

“That’s more or less the age group of people who are there, the older age group.”

Last year the Wonder Women’s Group went to Bundoran and also enjoyed a number of other excursions.

The AGM will take place at the Teach Oscail offices on Church Street in Cavan on Tuesday, February 18, at 2pm.

“We are a friendly bunch, come along and join us and see for yourselves,” Helena encouraged.
