Another cloudy and cold day with some light rain

This morning will be mostly cloudy. Many areas will be dry and there'll be some light rain or drizzle in parts of Munster and Connacht. Heavier rain will spread northeastwards over Munster and Connacht through the afternoon and evening with spot flooding possible near the south coast. Moderate east to southeast winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty. Highest temperatures 4 to 8 degrees.

Tonight, rain will continue to spread northeastwards to all areas, falling as sleet on high ground in Ulster. Rain will be heaviest in south Munster with spot flooding in places. Windy also with fresh to strong, gusty east to southeast winds. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 6 degrees, coldest in Ulster, and mildest in the southwest.

Friday will start off wet and blustery with rain, which will gradually clear from much of Munster and Connacht with bright or sunny spells following in the afternoon. Leinster and Ulster will continue cloudy all day with further outbreaks of rain. Fresh southeast winds will gradually decrease light to moderate. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in Leinster and Ulster and 9 to 12 degrees in Connacht and Munster.

Friday night will be mostly cloudy with patchy mist and drizzle, mainly over the eastern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees with light east to southeast breezes,

Saturday will be mostly cloudy. It will start off mainly dry. Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread northwards through the day. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees with mostly moderate southeast winds, mildest in the southwest.

Saturday night will continue mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees generally, but less cold in the southwest and along the south coast in mostly moderate east to southeast winds.

Sunday will continue mostly cloudy with rain and drizzle mainly affecting the northeast and the southwest. Some drier, brighter intervals elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, highest in the southwest with moderate, occasionally fresh southeast winds.

Monday and Tuesday of next week will continue mostly cloudy with spells of rain spreading northeastwards at times with moderate to fresh southeast winds. Day time temperatures will range from about 8 to 11 degrees and the nights will be frost-free.
