Road remains closed following serious accident

Gardaí appeal for witnesses

Gardaí in Cavan are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision in the south east of the county earlier this morning (Tuesday).

The R-194 remains closed between Virginia and Ballyjamesduff following the two-vehicle collision at Coppanagh Cross.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the accident, which occurred at approximately 7:20am.

The male driver of one of the vehicles was brought by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital. His injuries are being described as "serious".

The road is expected to reopen later this evening.
