It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.

Gerard (Gerry) Lovett

Nenagh, Tipperary / Cavan Town, Cavan

The death has occurred of Gerard (Gerry) Lovett, Bromley, UK, and late of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Cavan Town, Co. Cavan, on Monday January 20th 2025, after a long illness, bravely borne. Predeceased by his wife Madge, son Michael, and brothers John and Diarmuid. Sadly missed by his partner Sousie and her family, his daughter Mary (Slattery) and son Ger. Also by his sons James and Robert and their mother Anne, his sister Mary (Kells) and brother Anslem (Cavan), grandchildren and partners, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Therese and Madeleine, son-in-law Michael, sisters-in-law Kathleen and Mary, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gerry’s Funeral Mass and cremation will take place in St. Edmund's Church, Beckenham, London, U.K. on Monday, February 10th, at 11.15am, and which can be viewed on the church livestream here.

Norman Mitchell

Dundragon, Bailieborough, Cavan

The death has occurred of Norman Mitchell, Inverell, New South Wales, Australia and formerly of Dundragon, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Phyllis Mitchell.

Survived by his loving wife Louise, daughter Kate, son Andrew, son-in-law Adam, daughter-in-law Mel, grandchildren Seth, Drew, Eliza and Ava, sisters Sylvia (Bailieborough), Gillian (Newtownstewart) and Wendy (Portadown), nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Norman will be laid to rest in Inverell, New South Wales, Australia on February 3rd.

(née Hughes)

Shelvins, Glaslough, Monaghan, H18 PH61

The death has occurred of Patricia McMahon (Nee Hughes), Shelvins, Glaslough, Co Monaghan on Thursday the 30th of January 2025 in Cavan General Hospital after a short illness.

Predeceased by her parents Mary and Mick Hughes, brother Matt and Granddaughter Kyra.

Sadly missed and remembered by her loving husband Paddy, Son Gerard, daughters Meme, Siobhán (Barry), Paula, Donna (Brendan), Claire (Brendan) and her adored grandchildren Danielle, Tasmin, Courtney, Ellie, Jude, Matthew, Heidi and Emma. Also her sister Mena and brother in law Patsy.

Patsy Atkinson

Lennon, Ballybay, Monaghan, A75 NY75

The death has occurred of Patsy Atkinson, Lennon, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. Thursday 29th January 2025. Predeceased by his parents Packie and Mollie Atkinson.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Geraldine, sons Paraic and Michael, sister Elanor (Vincent Duffy R.I.P) daughters-in-law Nicola and Sinead, cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Siobhan and Bobby, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Patsy will repose at his home in Lennon, from Friday until removal on Sunday afternoon at 1pm arriving for funeral mass at 1:30 in The Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Tullycorbet, with burial afterwards in St. Michael’s cemetery, Annyalla.

The death has occurred of Paul Meegan, Mullagh, Inniskeen.

Paul will be forever sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Denise and his four adoring daughters Chloe (Shane), Katie (Aran), Molly and Lauren. Beloved son of Tommy and Breige. Sadly missed by his sister Sinead (Micheál), brothers Thomas, Mark (Lee), Eoin (Yvonne), Shane (Arlene) and Alan. Sadly missed by mother-in-law Rose, father-in-law Seamus, brothers-in-law Derek (Caroline), Barry (Lisa) and Seamie (Carol), nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Reposing at his residence until removal Saturday 1st February at 10.30am arriving for 11am Requiem Mass in Mary Mother of Mercy Church, Inniskeen. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Inniskeen.

MAY PAUL’S GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE.

Gerard Mullen

Cathedral Walk, Monaghan Town, Monaghan, H18 HR02 / Tyholland, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Gerard Mullen, Cathedral Walk, Monaghan and formerly of Tyholland on Wednesday 29th January. Known to many as 'Gerard The Window Cleaner', suddenly but peacefully in the company of his loving family in St.Vincents Hospital, Dublin.

Predeceased by his parents Genie and Katie and his siblings Catherine, Theresa and Seamus.

Gerard will forever be loved and cherished by his wife Pauline and his daughter Aoife. He will be sorely missed by his brothers Gabriel (Margaret), Patsy (Briege) & Thomas, his sisters Noreen (Kevin) & Margaret, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends.

May Gerard's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Gerard's remains will repose at his residence on Friday (H18 HR02) from 2pm - 8pm. House private to family and friends on Saturday morning please.

Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 11am at St.Patrick's Church, Tyholland followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
