All Cavan water treatment plants resuming normal operations
Uisce Éireann is continuing to restore normal water supply to households, farms and businesses in neigbhbouring Meath following disruptions.
Uisce Éireann continues to make significant progress restoring water supply to all customers in Cavan.
Uisce Éireann have now deployed and installed generators at almost all of the plants, pumping stations and reservoirs where it is feasible to do so.
A final few were being added on Wednesday to further reduce the number of customers without water. Having done so, Uisce Éireann are continuing to work closely with the ESB to prioritise the restoration of electricity supply in the remaining locations.
The efforts have led to all water treatment plants resuming normal operations. Customers supplied by Ballyhaise, Ballyjamesduff and Ballinagh Public Water Supplies will see their supply return in the coming hours if not already as the water network refills.
The Belturbet supply is presently under a Boil Water Notice.
Operations Lead, Peter Gallagher has said: “This has been an extremely busy period for our engineers, supervisors, caretakers, and repair crews who have been working hard to restore water for our customers and I want to acknowledge those efforts. Their efforts have led to all water treatment plants resuming normal operations. Customers supplied by Ballyhaise, Ballyjamesduff and Ballinagh Public Water Supplies will see their supply return in the coming hours if not already as the water network refills. Uisce Éireann would like to apologise to customers who were without water for a number of days and would like to thank the public for their continued patience during this challenging time.”

While a number of smaller water treatment plants and pumping stations in rural parts of the county are still without power, the medium-sized and large treatment plants are now back in operation through the restoration of mains power supply or the installation of generators.
Intermittent power outages are still affecting some smaller plants while Moynalty and surrounding areas are experiencing low pressure on the extremities of the network as water pressure continues to build and reservoirs replenish.
