Education Board dealing with damage to three properties
Cavan-Monaghan ETB say they are “actively engaging” with their insurers after storm Éowyn caused damage to three local properties.
A tree fell at Virginia College, hitting the roof of the canteen and caused significant structural damage to the property, and to the inside roof.
Branches also smashed windows of the school, which shut on Monday but reopened on Tuesday.
Similarly, the Cavan Institute Campus on the Dublin Road also closed its doors to students and teachers on Monday as they came to terms with damage caused at the property.
Finally, the Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre near Cootehill was left with no power, internet or phone lines after some damage on site due to the storm.
A spokesperson for the CMETB confirmed the local education provider is “actively engaging with our insurers Irish Public Bodies and progressing remedial works at properties impacted by storm Éowyn including Virginia College, Cavan Institute and Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre".
