Storm Éowyn aftermath: Clean up continues and updates

Rolling updates regarding important information as Cavan and neighbouring counties continue to deal with the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.

Tankers of water will be provided in areas still affected by decreasing water pressure.

Some of the worst affected areas still with power are not expected to have connectivity restored until at least Monday next week.

9:55pm:

The damage was caused to the front of the Castle Hill apartments in the Erneside town by high winds brought during Storm Éowyn.

9:35am:

While many of the roads across County Cavan blocked by fallen trees have re-opened following Storm Eowyn, hazards remain and continued vigilance is advised.

9:30am:

Power outages continue at Cavan’s eight water treatment plants with power loss at pumping stations also impacting water supplies across the county.

9:30pm:

HSE services are working over the weekend to return to normal after Storm Éowyn.

9:25am:

Council crews and emergency services have been dealing with fallen trees in many parts of the county

9:20pm:

Restoration of mobile service will focus on voice and SMS initially; data services may be slower to return.

9:15am:

Motorists urged to obey any road closures or diversions put in place by local authorities and An Garda Síochána.

9:10am:

In Cavan power is not expected back in the worst affected areas until later next week and even next week.

9:05pm:

IMPORTANT REMINDER The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme will be available to provide support to those living in properties directly affected Storm Éowyn.
