Mist and fog to lift but thundery rain on the way
Storm Éowyn set to land on Thursday night, Orange warning for entire country on Friday.
The next day or so will see mist and fog lift only to be replaced with blustery and thundery rain as the region braces itself for Storm Éowyn which makes landfall on Thursday night.
Mist and fog will lift from most areas today, Wednesday but may be stubborn to clear from places. It will be mostly dry but there'll be a few isolated showers and some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in light southwest or variable winds.
It will be rather cold overnight with areas of fog and the chance of a touch of frost. However, later in the night, southerly winds will freshen clearing most of the fog and frost. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees.
Meanwhile, as Storm Éowyn gets closer to Ireland, Thursday will turn blustery as a band of squally and possibly thundery rain spreads from the west during the morning. Sunny spells and showers will follow through the afternoon, some heavy and with hail.
Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with fresh and gusty southerly winds, veering westerly. A Status Orange wind warning has been issued for the entire country from 2-5pm on Friday with Met Éireann warning of "damaging and destructive" winds with gusts of up to 130km/h expected.
